Adding network communication links
To make network communication links, you must use both the connection part and the connection spec parts for your communication protocol:
1. Select the appropriate category of parts for the protocol you want to use:
o APPC category
o CICS category
o CPI-C category
o MQ Series category
o TCP/IP category
2. Select one of the following Connection iconConnection parts from the category you selected:
o APPC Conversation
o CICS Logical Unit of Work
o CICS Program
o CPI-C Conversation
o MQ Series Message
o RPC Client
o TCP/IP Socket
3. Add the selected part to an open area of the free-form surface.
4. Select the Connection Spec iconConnection Spec part from the category representing the protocol you are using.
5. Add the selected part to an empty area of the free-form surface.
6. To specify the remote machine and the protocol-specific communication details, double-click on the part to open its Settings window and provide the required information:
o In the APPC Connection Spec Settings window, specify the partner transaction program (TP) and logical unit (LU) names.
o In the CICS Program Settings window, specify the Transaction ID and Program name.
o In the CPI-C Connection Spec Settings window, specify the partner transaction program (TP) and logical unit (LU) names, or`specify the symbolic name.
o In the MQ Series Connection Spec Settings window, specify queue manager and queue names.
o In the RPC Connection Spec Settings window, specify program number and version.
o In the TCP/IP Connection Spec Settings window, specify the remote host name or IP address and port number.
